A Reflexologist’s Review: The Earthing Movie
The Remarkable Science of Grounding
Reflexology -A brief description
If you have ever had someone work on your feet, the terms ‘earthing’ and ‘grounding’ make total sense. In a nutshell, the ancient practice known as ‘reflexology’ has been used in several cultures to help the body heal and balance itself. It has been found to enhance the inter-related functioning of the central nervous system and the hormonal system which serve to communicate regulatory signals to all corresponding organs and systems in the entire human body. At its most foundational level, ‘Chi’ -known as ‘vital life force’ is unblocked and allowed to flow freely by way of effective pressure-massage techniques.
Electromagnetic Pathways: The Meridian System
In reflexology, one can work on the feet, hands, face, and ears. However, the feet are particularly effective. An extensive body of knowledge in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) related to acupuncture/acupressure; Qigong; as well as Japanese Shiatsu, provides useful insight about the meridian system. These and other ancient systems of healing base their understanding upon this subtle network of electromagnetic circuits/channels or ‘energy highways’ that traverse every organ, tissue, and cell in the human body. The meridian system is still being studied today and is understood within the context of fascia. The main circuits of the meridian system are found in the feet. One of these principle meridian pathways, known as the kidney meridian, begins underneath your feet!
How do the feet relate to earthing?
When we go barefoot, our entire system benefits from the electromagnetic changes to do with positive and negative ions. Something happens between the human body and the Earth. We literally recharge. Negative ions (healthy for us) are taken up electromagnetically into the meridian system and positive ions (unhealthy) are discharged. Health benefits are holistic and relate to a measurable reduction in chronic inflammation -found to be related to many of today’s most common chronic diseases.
In The Earthing Movie Directors Joshua Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell bring together a powerhouse of experts from various fields who share their knowledge and understanding of the vital importance of earthing. The documentary, premiered November 19, 2019, features the pioneering advocate of earthing practice, Clint Ober. In collaboration with a stunning line-up of contributors, viewers can learn how to find one’s ‘electrical balance’. This combined body of work has sprouted out into various informational follow-throughs. Explore some of the links below as a co-support to your own grounding journey.
What is ‘Earthing’ ?
“Grounding is basically putting your bare feet on the ground. When you do that, you’re in contact with the Earth. Mother Earth is endowed with electrons and these electrons are literally absorbed through your feet. It’s like taking handfuls of anti-oxidants but you’re getting it through the feet.;” -Stephan Sinatra.MD. (Cardiologist, Integrated Medicine Specialist)
“Grounding means connecting to the Earth to support the specific functions of the organs of your body. It supports the body as a whole, but specifically supports organ systems down to the tissues and the cellular functions of the entire body.” -Laura Koniver. MD. (Physician, General Practitioner)
“Everything goes to normal balance when you’re grounded.” James L. Oschman. PhD. (Biophysicist; Author of Down To Earth).
